About our purpose

The RGV Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is a non-profit organization formed in October 2007.

The mission of the RGV Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is to reduce the pet overpopulation by providing high volume, high quality and affordable sterilization services to all companion animals in the Rio Grande Valley.

Why does the Rio Grande Valley
need a low cost clinic?

Pet overpopulation is a serious problem in the Rio Grande Valley. More than 40,000 dogs and cats enter local animal shelters every year and more than 27,000 will never leave alive. There are only two ways to control pet overpopulation: euthanasia or sterilization. Sterilization (spay or neuter surgery) is the only humane solution.

Currently, the RGV Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is the only clinic in the Rio Grande Valley that offers spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats at a reduced cost.  There are many responsible pet owners who realize the necessity, but need an affordable alternative.

How does our clinic help?

RGV Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic offers low cost spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs to all residents of the Rio Grande Valley. 

Many of the most serious overpopulation issues begin in neighborhoods where individuals have limited access to veterinary care, limited financial resources, or limited education regarding animal issues.

Our dedicated staff and volunteers focus their outreach efforts in these communities.

Moreover, by providing a solution for the pet overpopulation in our region, we are helping to improve public safety and reducing taxes and fees associated with caring for the pet overpopulation in our communities.

When local cities and counties spend less money dealing with stray, abused or unwanted pets, they can focus more resources and funding to important issues like education and healthcare.

how can you help?

RGV Low Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic does not receive financial assistance from local municipalities, counties, state or federal agencies. We depend SOLELY on the maintained support of our community and non-profit organizations like PetSmart Charities and The Humane Alliance.
